Hats off to you for producing your own photos (from taking the shot to developing the negs) - not too many people do that anymore (it's something that I want to learn), so it's nice to see traditional methods being kept alive!
At first I wasn't sure about the overexposure or the lack of contrasts, but I've changed my mind - I think this photo is great, and the qualities that is has at the moment only support the notion behind the photo.
I'm sure we can all relate to the 'bright light of the mornings', when our eyes are still getting used to all of the light - things always seem overexposed, so it seems natural that it does here as well. There is a nice glow along the surface of the sheets and the edges of your bear - even though this photo is black and white that light adds warmth to the shot.
Like I said before the contrasts seem a little flat, but then again that goes hand in hand with the brightness - because there is a lot of grey it only emphasis the amount of light in the scene. Besides, now that I think about it, if the contrast was higher you'd lose some of that nice detail.
Excellent shot - thank you for the note, I'm glad you sent it!
no prob bob! this was actually the first print i brought in for the critique. The print for hte actual assignment has more contrast. I used a different filter for it. It was a test but i liked it and went with it!
I enjoy the developping process...the feeling of getting something like that accomplished! hard work and hot always fun but hey! it's a new skill to have!
